As of December 8, 2025, all permit types except for new construction are available for online, digital applications. Digital applications for new construction are expected to be completed in early 2026. Please see our Permits and Submittal Information page for more information on submittal requirements.
Before you can apply for an electrical permit, the Town must have copies of both a State of Colorado Master Electrician license, and a State of Colorado Electrical Contractor license for your company. You may email copies of your state licenses to building@townofbreckenridge.com. Licenses may also be uploaded during the online application process. Additionally, all contractors must hold a Town of Breckenridge business license. The Finance Department administers business licenses for the Town - you can read more about it or register for a license here. If you already have all these credentials, you're ready to apply!

To apply online, login (or register) to your Access Portal. At the top of your home page, click the link that says "Apply." Choose the proper application type and follow the steps. Please note that plans are a required attachment for any commercial applications.
Once you've submitted, your application is forwarded to a staff member for review. You'll receive a notification via email when the permit is ready to pay, or if more information is required. Please call us if you need our current review times. Review times are estimated only. Actual review times may vary based on completeness of application, complexity of review, and resubmittal requirements.
